Do we wish to see Jesus? Are we ready to follow Jesus wherever that may lead? Well, then, whats our response upon Jesus word saying Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life? In this Lenten season, let us think about the cost of our Christian Discipleship.

Sermon  Outline

Salvation and Eternal Life have been the primary theological themes. What is salvation? What is eternal life? These are important questions to ask especially in our 20th century.

We often think that salvation and eternal life belongs to the next life, not in this life. But if we look at the Scripture carefully, there are many Scripture verses telling us that the salvation and eternal life starts now in this life.  The Good News for us Christians is not just about living for the next life, but living in this life the Good News that will carry over into the next life.

In our Lenten season we lead us into the desert of repentance that in this pilgrimage of prayer, we might learn to be your people once more. In fasting and service you bring us back to your heart. POSTLUDE “Footsteps of Jesus”                 Everett

Sermon Outline

Where we Christians are setting our mind is an important question in this season of Lent as we commemorate Jesus’ suffering for us. Distinguishing divine concerns from human concern is a matter no less difficult today than for Jesus’ first disciples. In today’s scripture, we find Jesus rebuking his followers when they could not imagine that the messianic way would be anything but a way of worldly triumph and exemption from struggle.
